Ordinary to Extraordinary: The Story of Gladys Aylward

LENGTH: 45 minutes

A Christian drama about Gladys Aylward

The story of Gladys Aylward has encouraged many over the years. It can be so exciting when we feel God’s leading and direction in our lives. Our brief existence takes on a bigger meaning and purpose. However, when the walking out of that purpose begins, it’s amazing how many obstacles, doubts and even nay-sayers come our way. What seemed so clear, becomes a struggle and the enemy of our souls would love us to give up. Don’t quit!

Ordinary to Extraordinary is a humorous, yet inspiring true story about Gladys Aylward, an ordinary, hard-working woman, who wants to serve Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Audiences will relate to her struggles as she overcomes obstacle after obstacle to follow the call of God on her life.

In the 1930′s Gladys travels to China by every mode of transportation imaginable (even a mule train). She finds herself in a country where she doesn’t speak the language and knows no one. Yet the Lord has a plan for this English parlor maid and Gladys eventually finds herself running an inn for muleteers; working as a foot inspector; stopping a prison riot and rescuing 94 orphans, all the while sharing the good news of the gospel in their own language! Her life wasn’t easy but it was never boring as it went from ordinary to extraordinary.

THEMES: MISSIONS, OUR PURPOSE, PERSEVERANCE, PRAYER, TRUSTING IN GOD DESPITE OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, THE BIGNESS OF GOD, COURAGE AND WITNESSING.
