An Interactive Drama Experience: The Retelling of the Christmas Carol

LENGTH: 1 hour and 30 minutes (45 minutes - short intermission - 45 minutes)

Christian entertainment that’s meaningful and a lot of fun this Christmas season!

Are you looking for something that isn’t a whole lot of fuss for you this Christmas season? Are you wanting to host an event for your church or business that they will remember for weeks – even months to come?

The audience gets to ‘act up’ in this inter-active reader’s theater style drama. I provide the scripts, costume & props, the drama instruction and direction. You provide the victi – I mean, volunteers and space.

we-can-do-thisThe Retelling of a Christmas Carol will have your group talking for days afterwards. That’s because they are part of the entertainment!

Shhh! Don’t tell them beforehand or they won’t come!

It’s readers’ theatre meets improv which combines together to provide a lot of laughter for all who come. We shouldn’t forget that the story itself has a powerful message for the Christmas season.

Charles Dickens’ “Christmas Carol” is a story that has stood the test of time. Ebenezer Scrooge thinks of nothing but money and business, until one Christmas Eve he gets some ‘special’ visitors. With the help of his dead partner, Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, Scrooge gets a lesson in what is really important. It has nothing to do with personal gain but all to do with caring for others.

audience-become-actorsI provide a crash course in drama for the audience, so they know what is expected of them. I also provide easy-to-follow scripts to read, costumes and props. All you need to provide is the stage, a few microphones and the laughter!

It’s a fun relaxed atmosphere that will have people talking about each other and their truly unforgettable performances for weeks after.

Testimonies

“Deanna Storfie, primary actor and director of Acting Up! Drama, is truly a humble and committed servant of God through the ministry laid on her heart and refined by many years of service to Him.  She not only has the concept of great drama down pat, but in her fun and encouraging manner, leads and guides her ‘commissioned’ volunteers into opening up and sharing their talents with the audience.

Her way of teaching acting in an ‘on-the-spot’ manner is both comedic and challenging.  With her capable guidance, our church was blessed to enjoy the retelling of The Christmas Carol.  Although a bit ‘timid’ initially, our actors and actresses soon warmed up to their roles in this great story and really had a great time.  Deanna’s fun way of on-the-spot dramatic coaching brought many laughs to both the cast and the audience.

Deanna did an excellent job of closing off the production by sharing a short, yet powerful, message of Christ’s love and provisions for salvation and living a life of fulfillment in Christ.  I give her a very high score.

She will bring a great experience to your church or community outreach.”

Rev. Art Quist, Senior Lead Associate Pastor, Spruce Grove Alliance Church, Spruce Grove, Alberta

“We had Deanna in to do our Christmas Banquet with great success and much laughter. Deanna brings forth a great message, whether for Christians or non-Christians.”     Pastor Eve Bassett, Abundant Life, Edmonton

“It was fun, enjoyable and at the same time God-honoring, pointing us to Him. I appreciated your ministry.”      Pastor Scott Dixon, University Alliance Church, Lethbridge

“I appreciated the message of generosity at Christmas which warmed all of our hearts. People were amazed at your ability to pick (from the audience) the right cast for the story.”   Pastor Harry Unger, Taber Evangelical Free Church

"Give generously to (the poor) and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to." Deut 15:10 "There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deut 15:11 "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of possessions." Luke 12:15
